KARACHI: Law and order in Sindh reviewed

KARACHI, Nov 13: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim have directed the relevant officials to beef up security measures so as to maintain law and order in the province.

A high-level meeting presided over by Dr Ibad at the Governor’s House was held here on Tuesday to review the prevailing situation in the province. The meeting was attended by the Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Home, Waseem Akhtar, Chief Secretary Aijaz Qureshi, DG Rangers Major-General Liaquat Ali, IGP Ziaul Hasan, Home Secretary Ghulam Mohammad Mohtaram and Principle Secretary Nasir Hayat.

The meeting also decided to take all possible measures to bring about improvement in all the sectors of life particularly education and health.

The governor and the chief minister said that foreign investors were taking keen interest in making investments in the country, which was evident from the holding of various international events in different sectors.

People wanted a stable law and order situation and growth in every sector of life for which they were cooperating with the government, they observed.

They directed all the relevant officials to keep an eye on anti-social elements disrupting peace in the province. No hurdles in the continuity of development works and economic policies benefiting common people would be tolerated, they said.

The Sindh governor said that President General Pervez Musharraf had removed all the concerns by announcing a future plan regarding general elections.—PPI
