Clarification

KARACHI: This is with reference to a story published in Dawn on Nov 10, 2007, which focused on counterfeiting practices in Pakistan. In his piece, the reporter has quoted the example of Robin Blue, a brand that suffered the consequences of counterfeiting in Pakistan. However, it was wrongly stated that the “issue forced manufacturers of Robin Blue to wind up operations, selling the franchise to a local company.”

Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan, the manufacturers of Robin Blue clarified that the counterfeiting issue was dealt with by the company after raids were conducted by the police and the perpetrators were taken into custody. The company acknowledges that counterfeiting is an issue in Pakistan and has, therefore, launched a widescale campaign to help eradicate it. Presently, Robin Blue and its complete range of products, i.e. Powder Blue, Liquid Blue and Bleach are all owned, manufactured and marketed by Reckitt Benckiser Pakistan.
