LAHORE, Nov 11: Mohammad Shabbir of Islamabad with three-day aggregate of 201 won the Punjab Open golf championship at Gujranwala on Sunday.
Shabbir’s three-day break up was 66,66,69. And in the final round Shabbir, also the leader over the past two rounds produced an extraordinary finish, keeping the lead throughout the final 18 holes.
His card for the day showed four birdies on holes 3, 7, 8 and 16 and just one bogie on the par-3 and 4th. The other holes were parred through regulation golf.
Mohammad Siddique (Faisalabad) was runners-up, after falling nine strokes behind to the leader. He added a card of two-under-par-70 to last two days of 72,68.
Mohammad Nazir of Islamabad claimed the third spot after playing an excellent final round of five-under-par-67. Had he not played a dismal round on the second day of four-over-par-76, he could have been in more suitable position to challenge the leader.
