KARACHI, Nov 11: Speedy colt Vice Admiral obliged punters by repeating his winning feat to land the day’s honours in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Showing consistency the odds-on-favourite colt outpaced filly Leopard Of Arab by two lengths in the opener to make it two on trot.

The colt from the stables of Gul Mohammad Rajar was piloted home by jockey M. Nasir and saddled by trainer Mushtaq Ali Khan.

Red Rufus finished three lengths behind to grab third slot while Princess Rozi completed the frame beaten further by short head.

It was an eventful day for Rajar who completed a double when in the fourth race four-year-old long shot Truf Shot lowered the colours of favourite filly Phapha Kutni to claim the feature event.

Making amends, Truf Shot overcame bay Tharkyee by four lengths. He was followed by Phapha Kutni and Reyan King.

Two more favourites – Azam The Great and Good Naeem – also bitten the dust at the expense of mare Eye Lady and Jaguar in back to back races.

Rider Zaki Zakir stormed Eye Lady to three-quarter-of-a-length victory over Ghabra in the sixth race while Jaguar posted a magnificent 12 lengths victory over Good Naeem in the next.

Azam The Great who fractured his legs after negotiating the bend was destroyed.

Predictions about two-year-old bay colt Discreet Cat and three-year-old chestnut colt Count The Money also came true apart from Vice Admiral. The former notched up his maiden win edging Star Is Born by three lengths while the latter got the better of With Interest by two lengths in a neck-to-neck tussle.

In the other two races, The Ghazan Prince crossed the finishing post ahead of Sweetie Pie by four lengths while Awan was home in a facile six-length victory over Closing Argument.
