QUETTA, Nov 11: A heavy exchange of fire between militants and security forces took place when a checkpost came under attack near Dera Bugti on Sunday.

Sources said that armed men fired mortar shells on the Frontier Constabulary checkpost in the Chashma area, some 30 km off Dera Bugti.

“Mortar shells exploded near the checkpost,” the sources said. However, shelling caused no casualty or damage.

Official sources said that the security personnel deployed in the area returned the fire, forcing the assailants to escape.

In another incident, armed men attacked security forces with rockets and automatic weapons in the Loth area of Sui late on Saturday night. No loss of life or damage to property was reported in the attack.
