KARACHI: Bouquets placed at ‘justice corner’

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 11: In a bid to express solidarity with those judges who refused to take oaths under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO), people from different walks of life sent bouquets and greeting cards to Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed, Justices Sarmad Usmani, Faisal Arab, Sajjad Ali Shah and Anwar Jamal.

The bouquets and greeting cards were earlier placed at the “Justice corner” set up by the Jamaat-i-Islami at the Karachi Press Club and Submarine Chowk in Defence area and later delivered to the residences of these judges.

After collecting them a large number of JI activists, led by JI leaders Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui and Yunus Barai visited the residences of the judges.

The JI leaders said that by giving a verdict against the illegal and unconstitutional measures of the military rulers and by refusing to take oath under the PCO they had proved their loyalty towards the constitution and had raised the prestige of the nation.

They said that after the struggle for the restoration of the deposed chief justice, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, this courageous decision had created a new ray of hope for the nation.

“Today people of Pakistan support the judges, lawyers and journalists fraternity”, they added.

On the occasion, the judges assured them that they had all the respect for the aspirations and sentiments of the people and they would continue to uphold the principles of rule of law, fair play, justice and supremacy of the constitution.
