KARACHI, Nov 10: Three-year-old bay colt Vice Admiral should go all out to make it two on trot in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Promoted to top division of class VII following a facile nine lengths victory under Kashif Qamar last weekend, the speedy colt start as our days’ best and had good prospects to repeat the winning feat. His victory was preceded by four good second places in succession.
On Sunday, she will be up against 10 aspirants barring last minute withdrawls in the five furlongs opener with M. Nasir in the saddle.
Filly Leopard Of Arab and either Hi Darling or Red Rufus should battle it out for places. The latter two belonged to the same connection.
If all goes well, seasoned jockey Ghulam Shabbir II should present owner-trainer Ehtisham with a winner in the feature event by powering five-year-old bay Tharkyee to victory.
Though Reyan King, Phapha Kutni, and Truf Shot also come in the reckoning but Tharkyee enjoys an edge with Shabbir aboard. He is likely to be followed by Reyan King and Phapha Kutni for the places.
Filly Taiz Per whose winning streak was interrupted by Sir Jee in the last outing is fancied to make amends by picking up spoils in the supporting event.
Drawn in the six furlongs third race of the programme, the filly from the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara should edge out the rivals – Closing Argument and Cash Flow – with ease.
Taiz Per’s stable mate filly Sweetie Pie should also reign supreme in an earlier race.
Her likely challengers are The Ghazan Prince and Shah Pasand. However, if tried, Crown Prince can upset the applecart.
Colts Discreet Cat and Dark Secret should fight for glory in the fifth race, restricted to two-year-old colts and fillies. We prefer the former to make amends. They are to be chased by Star Is Born.
In the sixth race couple of horses have come down in handicap and can win anytime. They include Azam The Great, Al Zarrar, Little Girl, Silent Love, Desperado and Royal Loyalty.
We prefer Desperado, Little Girl and Royal Loyalty to oblige punters.
Four-year-old chestnut colt Hamza Joy and three-year-old colt Count The Money should win honours in the last two races.
A card of eight races has been chalked out for the day with first race starting at 12.00noon.
