QUETTA, Nov 10: Lawyers in Balochistan continued their boycott of court proceedings for the sixth day on Saturday.
At a general body meeting of the Balochistan Bar Association, lawyers decided to continue their protest till the lifting of emergency.
Kamran Murtaza chaired the meeting which decided that lawyers in the province would not appear before those judges who had taken oath under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO).
The meeting supported the demands of the Pakistan Bar Council.
Speakers at the meeting said that lawyers’ movement would continue till the reinstatement of deposed Chief Justice Ifitkhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other judges of the Supreme Court and release of lawyers, journalists and political activists.Meanwhile, the Jamiat Lawyers Forum at a meeting on Saturday said that the jail administrations in Quetta, Mach and Loralai had not allowed lawyers and family members to meet arrested lawyers.
Advocate Ata Rauf, who presided over the meeting, told newsmen that jail officials were reluctant to provide information about the arrested people.
He said the forum had decided that protest against the imposition of emergency would continue from the platform of the Balochistan Bar Association.
