BAHAWALPUR, Nov 10: A Rs570 million worth of potable water project for the city is expected to be completed early next year.

District Nazim Tariq Cheema said at present work on laying of water pipelines was in progress in many localities. As for other projects, he said, the Punjab government had approved construction of an overhead bridge estimated to cost about Rs390 million on a level crossing on Multan Road.

He said Rs60 million out of the presidential grant of Rs180 million for the supply of Sui gas to the remaining city areas had been received by the district government while the remaining amount was in the pipeline.

He said ex-MNA Sahibzada Farooq Anwar Abbasi, who was nominated a PML candidate by the chief minister from NA-185 (Bahawalpur city) the other day, had asked for another Rs140 million to supply gas to the localities in his constituency. — Correspondent
