SIALKOT, Nov 10: Three unidentified men shot a girl dead and injured her sister after their father allegedly refused to pay them Rs500,000 extortion money in Rampur locality in Daska tehsil on Saturday.

Muhammad Hanif, a local farmer, told Satrah police that some outlaws were demanding Rs500,000 extortion money (jagga tax) by frequently calling him at his cellular phone for the past several days.

He said three assailants stormed his house on Saturday morning, shot at his family members and fled after resorting to aerial firing.

His two daughters, who were asleep in the veranda of the house, received bullet injuries. Atifa, 6, died on the spot while Hafsa, 8, was taken to THQ Hospital in Daska wherefrom she was shifted to Mayo Hospital in Lahore owing to her critical condition.

The police registered a case. However, no arrest has been made so far.

BURNT: A man died of electric shocks while three of his fellows received burns when they touched live electricity wires while repairing cable network in Pura Heeraan locality here on Saturday.

Khurram Shehzad and three others were repairing cable network on an electricity poll. Suddenly, they touched live electricity wires and received severe shocks. Khurram died on the spot while the other three were taken to Mayo Hospital in Lahore in critical condition.
