JACOBABAD, Nov 10: The Hindu community celebrated “Diwali” here on Friday with great fervour and religious reverence.

All the shops and houses of the community were illuminated on the occasion as in evening youngsters set off fire crackers in jubilation.

People from all walks of life thronged bakeries in Jacobabad.

The bazaars remained open till late night.

It may be mentioned here that throughout Sindh, the Hindu community in Jacobabad has more population than any other place of Sindh province.

Diwali is a special festival which is celebrated throughout the world to celebrate the return of Shri Ramchander to his kingdom after 14 years.

The festival is celebrated for three days and rituals are performed in temples.

Our Mithi correspondent adds: People belonging to Hindu community celebrated Diwali with traditional enthusiasm and fervour in Tharparkar.

In Mithi town numerous houses were seen illuminated and decorated with electric bulbs, candles and lamps to mark the day.

Youths and children attired in new colourful clothes were seen setting off fire crackers in jubilation.

Besides Lachhmi Pooja — to worship the goddess of prosperity and wealth — special prayers were also offered in temples for the solidarity and progress of the country.
