Wajih’s telephonic address to DBA

MIANWALI, Nov 10: Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed (retired) has termed Nov 3 a black day in the history of the country, saying that Gen Musharraf will have to face criminal proceedings for `massacre’ of judiciary.

In his telephonic address to district bar association from Karachi on Saturday, he praised the lawyers’ movement and urged them to continue it till the independence of judiciary, restoration of democracy and withdrawal of emergency. The barroom was packed to capacity.

He said Gen Musharraf had become a security risk and his ouster was the need of the hour.

He praised the judges who refused to take oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) despite heavy pressure by the government. He urged the people to take to streets for restoration of the Constitution and independence of judiciary.

He bluntly rejected the PCO judges and asked lawyers not to appear before them.

In the end, he lauded the arrested lawyers of Mianwali by their names like Muhammad Aslam Shehbaz, Ijaz Gauhar, Latifullah Azad, Rashid Ahmed Khan, Manzoor Ahmed Khan and others from Isakhel and Piplan tehsils. — Correspondent
