MULTAN, Nov 9: City District Nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar said on Friday the government had approved the southern bypass project and Rs400 million had been released to by land for the project.
Mr Mukhtar told a press conference Rs10 million had also been released for the Multan District Headquarters Hospital and land had been bought for Rs60 million for the 250-bed facility to be completed in two to three years.
He said Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi would arrive in Multan on Saturday (today) to inaugurate four centres of Rescue 1122, and lay the foundation of the DHQ hospital.
He said special education schools had been set up at Bosan, Jalalpur Pirwala, and Shujaabad towns, where physically-challenged children would get free education.
Senator Javed Ali Shah and provincial ministers Rana Qasim Noon and Rai Mansab Ali Khan said a bridge would be built at Pattan Aiman Wala. The bridge would reduce distance between Multan and Karachi by 125 kilometres and work on it would begin shortly, they added. They said that gas would also be supplied to Raja Ram, Mubarakpur, Chak RS, Basti Malook and Khan Bela.
Federal minister for food, agriculture, and livestock Haji Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Punjab sports minister Moin Riaz Qureshi, MPA Syed Mujahid Ali Shah and town nazims were also present on the occasion.
