Fire at Estate Office causes Rs19.7m damage


ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: The estate office building that was damaged by fire during the Lal Masjid operation has suffered an estimated loss of Rs19.7 million. The final inquiry committee report, submitted to the ministry of housing and works, regarding damage to the gutted estate office building, disclosed this.

The joint estate officer, Shahid Aleem, said the committee comprised two representatives each from the housing and works ministry, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Pakistan Public Works Department besides some other departments. He said the building was badly damaged in the fire and almost all the equipment and record was destroyed.

Mr Aleem said the estate office suffered a loss of Rs19.7 million, the breakup of which was: Rs5.5 million in office record, Rs8.3 million in machinery and equipment and Rs5.9 million in furniture..—APP
