KOHAT, Nov 8: A drug addict tried to poison his wife and two children, police said on Thursday.

The wife of the addict —Naureen, hospitalised at the Liaquat Memorial Hospital —told police that her husband Mohammad Musharraf had prepared and served tea for the entire family recently.

After taking the tea she and her children (Sana and Tufail) started vomiting after suffering from stomach cramps.

She called her neighbours for help who took them to the hospital. The hospital staff had to ‘wash’ their stomachs.

The doctors said their lives had been saved because they had been brought to the hospital well in time.

Naureen added that her husband was a heroin addict and did not work. She used to advise him to give up narcotics and to earn some money for the family.

But he used to scold her and often beat her up.
