LAHORE Nov 7: Pakistan were given a soccer lesson when they were thrashed 14-0 by hosts Iran in the AFC under-19 youth championship at Paas Stadium in Tehran, Iran. The match saw striker Karim Ansari Fard scoring five goals as local side led 9-0 at break, says a PFF press release on Wednesday.

Fard slammed home in the 6th, 9th, 45th, 62nd and 73rd minutes, while his team-mate Jalalaldin Ali Mohammadi slotted home in the 5th, 20th and 36th minute.

Bakhtiar Rahmani also found the target three times when he struck in the 3rd, 45th and 89th minutes.

Shahryar Shirvan (38th minute), Rasoul Kar (51st minute) and Ali Derakhshan (90th minute) scored one goal apiece.

Pakistan meet Oman in their next encounter on Friday.

The opening match of the day saw Oman edging past Bahrain 2-1 at Rah Ahan Stadium. Bahrain skipper Mohamed Al Alawi grabbed the lead in the 29th minute.

But Oman bounced back as Hussain Al Hadhri equalised in the 64th before scoring the match-winner in the 90th minute.

At Paas Stadium, Lebanon came back from behind to defeat India 3-2.

India’s Khangembam Thoi Singh opened the scoring in the 4th minute and Subodh Kumar scored from the spot in the 29th minute to make it 2-0.

Lebanon recovered to reduce the lead through skipper Ali Bazzi 10 minutes later through spot kick. The Lebanese wrapped up the game with Bazzi scoring his second to make it 2-2 and striker Mustapha Chahine snatched the winner in the 86th minute.

Friday’s fixtures: India v Bahrain at 3.00 pm; Oman v Pakistan 2.00 pm; Lebanon v Iran at 6.00 pm.—APP
