New group vows to resist tribal chiefs

By Our Correspondent

MARDAN, Nov 7: A group of tribesmen vowed to combat crimes all over the district and contest elections, creating a platform against influential tribal chiefs. This was announced in a meeting of the Tehrik Mutahidda Qabail of Mardan held here on Wednesday. The organisation brings together Mohmand, Bajauri, Milizai, Utman Khel, Gujjar and Khattak tribes.

Haji Ghulam Badshah, the tribal organisation’s president, expressed dissatisfaction over the law and order situation and the rising crimerate in the district, especially kidnappings for ransom.

The meeting criticised law-enforcement agencies for having failed to fight crimes and maintaining peace in the area.
