LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 6: Many teachers were absent when the district officer (female) of the schools and literacy department for Lakki, Naheed Ghazal, paid a surprise visit to a number of primary, middle and high schools for girls in the district on Tuesday.

The visit had been planned following public complaints about the absence of teachers from the state-run schools.

Irshad of a Jhangkhel school and Nadia Farooq of a Khawajakhel institution were absent at the time of the inspection, besides the teachers of a Bharatkhel Landiwah school.

Likewise, Farkhanda Jabeen, CT, Rubeena Gulfam, PET, and Hajra Bibi, TT of GGMS, and Bahadar Khan, Landiwah, were absent. Shabnam Begum, PET, and Anila, TT of GGHS, Teri Khan, Landiwah, were also found to be absent.

District Officer Naheed Ghazal ordered the schools and the Lakki literacy department to deduct the salary of the absent teachers. She said the amount collected thus be deposited with the government exchequer.

She also ordered the initiation of disciplinary action against the absent teachers.
