India triumph in IRB Rugby

LAHORE, Nov 5: India beat Pakistan 19-0 points in the IRB Rugby Asiad Shield championship at the CR and FC grounds Colombo, Sri Lanka on Monday. India playing with a better understanding and good co-ordination rattled their opponents while collecting their points from two goals and one try after having led the half time with 12-nil lead.

Even then it was during the later stages of the game that India really came into their own and their third and final try which came almost during injury time completely sealed the game in their favour. For India, Devender scored two tries while Gophi Nath one.

Pakistan with Iran, Qatar and India are placed in group C. Group A comprised Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Thailand while B on Sri Lanka, Malaysia and China. In next match Pakistan will take on Iran on Tuesday.
