LAHORE, Nov 5: Two Pakistanis Asim Shafik and Jalil Khan entered the second round of the ITF Pakistan Circuit3 tennis championship on the first day of the main round at Cosmopolitan Club, in Bagh-i-Jinnah on Monday.
More first round matches will be decided on Tuesday in which Pakistan top seed Aqeel Khan will also start the campaign.
Asim defeated Vaja Uzakov of Uzbekistan in an one-sided match with the score being 6-3, 6-3. Jalil Khan accounted for Chang Huai En (Taiwan) after facing some fight in the first set as the score was 7-6 (1), 6-1.
In the doubles, Aqeel pairing with Sunil Kumar of India lost the match to Shokeen Vivier and Ashutosh 7-5, 6-4. But Tanvir Ashiq with Yasir Khan entered the next round after defeating Alexander- Vladmir Gigitashuill 1-6, 7-5 (10-4). The pair of Nomi Qamar and M Shafiq also lost the battle to Isaev Artem-Daniel Danilovic 6-4, 3-6.
