Victims get back swindled money

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 5: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has agreed on a plea bargain with a resident of the federal capital, who has allegedly defrauded general public of million of rupees under the garb of businesses ventures and showing artificial profits.

A NAB spokesperson told Dawn on Monday that the money which the accused - Syed Tassawar Hussain Shah - was paying back to NAB under the plea bargain was being distributed among the affected people. Some of the bank cheques in this regard were given to the victims on Friday.

Tassawar Hussain, a resident of Sector I-10/4, had swindled money out of the general public by promising them profits “under the garb of a bogus concern in the name of and style of Bukhari Traders”, the spokesperson said. He said the accused continued giving profits maliciously at initial stages to gain confidence of the investors in order to plunder more money. The case was investigated by NAB Rawalpindi and the reference in this regard was filed in the accountability court.
