KARACHI: City Council resolutions

Published November 3, 2007

KARACHI, Nov 2: Focal persons will be appointed in some departments of the city government to ensure implementation of various resolutions passed by the city council and other settled issues.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil here on Friday. District Coordination Officer Javed Hanif and heads of various city government committees attended the meeting.

It was decided that regular meetings of monitoring committees with the DCO and Executive District Officers would be arranged to develop a close liaison between elected public representatives and the officials so that public problems could be solved.

Addressing the meeting, Ms Jalil said strong mutual relations between elected representatives and institutions would help solve problems faced by citizens on a permanent basis.

She asked the DCO to ensure that EDOs gave replies to questions forwarded from the city council and the representatives of departments concerned remained present at the council meetings. “We will have to bring various matters under a system,” she said.—APP
