KARACHI, Nov 2: The respective vice-chancellors of Karachi University and the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) will continue to serve in their current capacities for another four years.

Campus sources said a notification was issued on Friday extending the term of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, for another four years.

The appointment has been made by the governor of Sindh, who is also the chancellor of public sector universities in the province.

Dr Pirzada Qasim’s first term expires on January 6, 2008 and his second term as vice-chancellor will commence from the same day, the sources added.

Meanwhile, DUHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Masood Hameed Khan has been reappointed to his current post for another four years, effective from Jan 14, 2008, said a notification issued here on Friday.

As per the notification the Sindh governor, who is also the DUHS chancellor, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 12 (one) of the DUHS Act 2004, has appointed Prof Masood Hameed Khan for the announced position.

The terms and conditions of his service will be determined later on.—APP
