Ali Asad slams maiden ton


KARACHI, Nov 1: Pakistan Under-19 opener Ali Asad scored his a fine maiden first-class century to propel Karachi Blues to 265-2 against Peshawar on the first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship fixture at the NBP Sports Complex on Thursday.

The left-handed Asad, playing only in his third first-class game, hammered 117 which included 18 boundaries, and helped Shadab Kabir put on 151 for the opening stand after Peshawar skipper Akbar Badsha chose to field first.

Shadab, the ex-Test left-hander, scored 70 with the aid of 11 fours.

At stumps, Ariz Kamal, younger of Test reject Asim Kamal, was still at the crease with 49.

Sui Southern Gas Company crawled to 193 for seven against Karachi Whites at the National Stadium after being asked to bat first. Fast bowler Mohammad Sami bowled tidily to take two for 34 in 20 overs

in front of the national selectors.

Discarded Test opener Taufiq Umar struck 131 to help Habib Bank reach 340-8 against Sialkot at the Lahore Country Club Ground in Muridke.
