Pakistan pair in Syrian tennis doubles final

LAHORE, Nov 1: Pakistan’s pair of Rizwan Azam and Muhammad Attique reached the final of men’s doubles event in the Syrian International Satellite tournament in Damascus, Syria.

In the semi-final, the Pakistani pair defeated Iranian top pair of Ali Shah Hussain and Ghulam Raza Bagheri in straight set 21-17, 21-15.

The other Pakistani pair of Wajid Ali and Zeeshan Umer lost to top Sri Lankan pair of Diluka Karnaratne and Dinuka Karnaratne and No.1 seed in the tournament in the second semi-final with the score being 21-15, 17-21, 16-21.

Earlier, Wajid and Umer Zeeshan overpowered Dore Basil and Shalham Tariq of Syria 21-15, 21-12 in the first quarter-final.

Rizwan and Attique made exit of Mohammad Saleh and Abed Al Wahed of Syria in straight sets 21-11, 21-17 to make the last four.
