Village named after Sir Abdullah Haroon

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 1: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan on Thursday renamed the Gharthama village in Chakothi sector as Haroonabad in recognition of the services rendered by Sir Haji Sir Abdullah Haroon during the Pakistan Movement.

The prime minister also announced upgrading of the village’s girls middle school and named it as Abdullah Haroon High School, according to an official handout.

The announcement was made by prime minister at a ceremony for inauguration of the school building in Gharthama, about 55 kilometres south of here.

APNS president Hameed Haroon was present on the occasion. Sardar Attique praised the Haroon family’s role in the establishment and development of Pakistan and said he felt honoured at being in a school which had been built by the family of one of the pioneers of Pakistan movement.
