Man freed from illegal police custody

By A Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Nov 1: A court bailiff here on Thursday recovered a man from the illegal police custody and handed him over to his relatives.

Mohammad Hussain in his application to the District and Sessions Judge Mian Khadim Hussain said the Waris Khan police had picked up his two brothers-in-law - Zaheer Shahid and Salahuddin - a few days ago.

The bailiff, Mirza Faisal Baig in his report to the judge said when he raided the Waris Khan police station and checked the diary (Roznamcha), he found that a case had been registered against Shahid but there was no record of Salahuddin’s arrest.

The bailiff said he found Salahuddin sitting in a room and handed him over to the applicant. The police told the bailiff that he had come to meet Mr Shahid.

The judge directed the police to produce Shahid in the court on November 12 and also asked the complainant to ensure the presence of Salahuddin in the court on the same day.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Sajid Ali Awan directed the SHO of R. A. Bazaar police to reply in writing on November 7 to a complaint lodged by a woman about non-cooperation of the police in registering a kidnap case against her in-laws.
