KARACHI: Water supply project for Lyari inaugurated

KARACHI, Nov 1: The city nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, on Thursday inaugurated 6mgd additional water supply to Lyari and announced provision of free connections from the new trunk line.

He also announced a package of Rs200 million for the rehabilitation of road infrastructure in Lyari and said that the work in this connection would begin soon.

The inaugural ceremony held at Miran Naka was attended by KWSB additional vice-chairman Mohammad Moin Khan, KWSB MD Ghulam Arif Khan, Lyari Town Nazim Malik Fayyaz Alam and others.

Speaking on the occasion, the city nazim said that the Haq Parast leadership had taken steps to solve the decades old issue of the area.

Talking to the newsmen, Mr Kamal said that one of the special features of this project was that every drop of water from this line had been made available to Lyariites because the project had been so planned that no one would be able to steal water from this line.

The city nazim said that the development activities in Lyari initiated by the city government had nothing to do with election or votes.

“We are not doing all this to get votes or for political mileage in the coming election but only because it is our duty to solve the problems of anyone living anywhere in Karachi”, he said.

Earlier, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal was warmly greeted by hundreds of local people including women and children.—APP
