Jamali sees poll postponement

Published November 1, 2007

ISLAMABAD, Oct 31: Former Prime Minister Mir Zafrullah Khan Jamali has said that general elections are likely to be put off for some time because of existing situation in the country.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said a final decision about the election would be made by the government and the Election Commission, but the existing law and order situation would definitely impact the timing.

Replying to a question on the Reconciliation Ordinance, Mr Jamali said the law should be identical for all citizens of the country.

He said all politicians, including Benazir and Chaudhry Shujaat, should make their security arrangements on their own.—APP
