Intizar among dengue patients

LAHORE, Oct 31: Known literary figure Intizar Husain is among the 10 people who were tested positive for dengue fever on Wednesday.

The patients also included a doctor who was treating the dengue fever patients at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Hanif confirmed that Mr Husain’s blood samples were sent to the Institute of Public Health which initially found the virus of the disease. But Dr Anil Riaz, a relative of Mr Husain, told Dawn that the veteran writer was merely a suspect of dengue fever and the disease could not be established unless final report was received.

Mr Husain told Dawn that some two days ago he had fever which settled on Wednesday. “A relative, who is a physician, asked me to get my blood tested for the disease. After seeing the test report, the physician told me that there was nothing to worry about. However, he advised me to adopt all precautionary measures.”

Dr Muhammad Sohail of SGRH was earlier a suspect, but on Wednesday the administration confirmed that he had developed the disease. Now he has been given the treatment in the hospital where he was treating others until a few days ago.
