By Our Correspondent

MIRAMSHAH, Oct 31: Two civilians were killed and two others suffered injuries when security forces clashed with militants here on Tuesday night.

A heavy exchange of fire took place in this North Waziristan town when militants fired four rockets at a checkpost near the main telephone exchange. Security forces retaliated with artillery fire from its base in Miramshah.

Witnesses said eight shops and a hotel were damaged in the battle. They said two people were killed in the hotel and two others received injuries. The wounded were shifted to hospital.

On Wednesday, a mob vandalised the building of a government girls’ high school in Miramshah.

The bandits, most of them Afghans, decamped with corrugated iron sheets, furniture, doors and windows of the building.

The witnesses said the office of the political administration located near the school and security forces did not intervene.
