SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 31: A shopkeeper running scrape business in Sabir Colony in Ferozewala died when explosives went off here on Wednesday.

Taj Din was hammering scrapes lying in the shop. When he hit a rod, it exploded with a bang, injuring the owner critically. He was rushed to hospital where he died.

A bomb disposal squad examined the place and pieces of explosives and claimed it was a bomb weighing one kilogramme.

According to APP, Sheikhupura District Police Officer Munir Ahmed Chishti said Taj Din had bought scrap from Sabir Town. Among the scrap was an iron rod fitted with lattice. When he hit the rod with a hammer, it exploded and some pieces of the iron hit him. As a result, he was injured and died. He says police officers probed the matter and did not find any proof of bomb explosion and any sabotage activity.
