GUJRANWALA, Oct 30: On the call of Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA), college teachers took out a protest rally in connection with their demands here on Tuesday.
The rally started from Government College for Boys, Satellite Town and terminated at district courts.
The teaching staff of Government College for Women, Satellite Town, Government Islamia College, People’s Colony, City Girls College, Qila Dedar Singh and Wazirabad colleges also participated in it.
The protesters demanded of the government to abandon privatisation of educational institutions and accept their outstanding demands. They warned that their protest movement would continue till the acceptance of their demands.
EXECUTION DELAYED: The president of Pakistan on Tuesday postponed execution of two convicts for a fortnight on the appeal of their heirs for mediation.
Reports said Iqrar Husain of Cantonment and Zakaullah of Ahmadnagar were to be hanged on Tuesday while the district and sessions judge had issued their death warrants. On the appeal of their heirs for mediation, the president delayed execution for a fortnight.
SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide by taking poison over a domestic issue in Baghbanpura here on Tuesday.
Reports said ‘S’ quarrelled with her husband Anwer over a family dispute and later swallowed poisonous pills. She died on way to DHQ Hospital. — Correspondent
