Dacoits kill woman on raising alarm

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 30: Six outlaws shot a woman dead and injured her daughter, son and a nephew who raised an alarm when they were fleeing after a dacoity bid in Chak 284-GB on Tuesday.

The dacoits riding a motorcar arrived in the village and three of them entered the house of a farmer, Abdul Rashid, the moment area plunged into darkness due to loadshedding in the wee hours on Tuesday.

They took the family at gunpoint and forced them to handover Rs250,000 in cash which the farmer had earned by selling his tobacco crop on Monday.

They were told that the money had been deposited with a bank, on which they got disappointed. However, they snatched gold jewellery and Rs4,000 in cash before fleeing.

In the meantime, a woman member of the family raised an alarm, which alerted neighbouring Razia Parveen who came out in the street and on seeing the dacoits she too started raising hue and cry. Enraged dacoits shot her dead on the spot.

When Razia’s daughter Nazia, son Shah Rukh and nephew Afzal came to rescue her, they were also shot injured. They were later hospitalised.

Razia’s body was given to the family after autopsy.

A few weeks ago, electricity wires worth Rs2 million running between Chak 284-GB and Chak 360-GB were stolen during loadshedding.

COLLISION: Two people, including a woman, were killed and one injured when a tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle near Chak 383-JB on Toba-Jhang Road, a few kilometres away from here, on Tuesday.

Ghulam Abbas, Khuda Bakhsh and Nasiran Mai of Chak 469 Daddoana, riding on a motorbike were going to Toba Tek Singh. When they reached near Allahar Pind, a tractor-trolley hit them. Nasiran Mai died on the spot.

Ghulam Abbas and Khuda Bakhsh were taken to the DHQ Hospital where Khuda Bakhsh also succumbed to his wounds while Ghulam Abbas was in critical condition.

The Sadar police have arrested tractor driver Gul Naaz Khan and started investigation.
