Benazir’s request

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 28: The Sindh government has declined a request of Benazir Bhutto to allow her to use vehicles with tinted glass and retain private armed guards for her personal security.

Ms Bhutto’s lawyer Farooq H. Naek told Dawn on Sunday that he had received a notice from the Sindh government in which additional home secretary (judicial) Shahnawaz Tariq had conveyed to him that the ban on tinted glass had been imposed by the federal government and the provincial government had been instructed not to give such permission.

According to the lawyer, the official acknowledged security concerns of the PPP’s chairperson but said he could give permission neither for tinted glasses nor for private armed guards.
