Biometric system from Nov 1

QUETTA, Oct 28: Movement of people at the Pak-Afghan border post in Chaman will be regulated by the biometric system from Nov 1.

“The government has installed the biometric system to check illegal crossing of people at the Chaman border and it will become functional from Nov 1,” an official told Dawn on Sunday.

He said that the decision was taken at a joint meeting of the Frontier Corps, Federal Investigation Agency, Customs officials and tribal elders held at the Frontier Corps fort on Sunday.

The meeting discussed ways of ensuring legal movement at the border.

It may be mentioned

that the Afghan government has objected to the installation of the biometric system and described it as an obstacle in the way of free movement of tribesmen living on the two sides of the Pak-Afghan border.
