Inquiry against suspended nazim

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 28: The Punjab government has decided to initiate an inquiry against alleged wrongdoings committed by suspended Sharaqpur tehsil nazim Mian Marghub Ahmed Sharaqpuri, the younger brother of district nazim Mian Jalil Ahmed Sharaqpuri, and an inquiry committee has been constituted in this connection.

Earlier, the tehsil nazim was suspended after 11 out of 13 tehsil councillors passed a non-confidence motion against him in the house on Friday.

The Local Government and Rural Development Department has formed a two-member inquiry committee to be headed by District Nazim Mian Jalil Ahmad Sharqpuri. A Local Government Department official will be the other member of the inquiry committee.

While talking to journalists, councillors Rana Mubusher, Rehana Ashraf, Sakina Bibi, Nisar Bhutta, Saeed Khan and Nabila Bibi said that the removal of Mian Marghub from tehsil nazim’s slot was inevitable due to his misbehaviour with councillors and other staffers. They alleged that he was involved in committing huge corruption as well as grabbing of government lands, particularly the dispensary’s land by misusing his powers.

The tehsil nazim had recently joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz after leaving the ruling Pakistan Muslim League to which his elder brother still sticks.
