Balochistan varsity students vow to boycott exams

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 28: The Balochistan University’s Students Action Committee has decided to boycott law and MA/MSc examinations, scheduled to begin from Nov 1 and Nov 24 in protest against the promulgation of the university ordinance.

Addressing a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, chairman of the committee Zubair Shah said that students would boycott classes till the government accepted their demands.

He said that the Model University Ordinance was unacceptable to both students and teachers and the boycott was an attempt to force the university administration to review its anti-education policy.

He said that increase in the admission and examination fee and reduction of seats in different university departments had forced the students to go on strike. Mr Zubair said that the action committee also strongly supported the appointment of an academician as the vice-chancellor of the Balochistan University, adding that all appointments in the university should be made on merit.

He urged all political parties and people to support the struggle to protect the rights of the students.
