MARDAN: ‘Dialogue only way to restore peace in tribal areas’
By Iqbal Hoti
MARDAN, Oct 28: JUI (F) General-Secretary Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has said the crises in the tribal agencies and the settled areas of the NWFP cannot be resolved with bullets.
Negotiations are the only way to restore peace in the region.
Addressing a press conference at the Mardan Press Club here on Sunday, Mr Haideri said the tribal people had not created any problems for Pakistan during the past 60 years but now the government had created a bloody situation and was killing its own people.
He said if bullets could solve problems then the US allied forces that invaded Afghanistan after 9/11 would not be facing defeat. Dialogue was the only way to overcome the problems in the tribal areas, he added.
He accused Gen Pervez Musharraf of creating a new crisis after every few months as a result of which innocent people were slain.
He said all the people who died during the clashes were Muslims, no matter which side of the divide they were on.
The government should immediately pull out the security forces from Swat and call off the operation.
He warned if the forces were not called back within a week, the JUI (F) would observe complete strike in the country.
Mr Haideri claimed that Imran Khan was a Jewish agent and his attitude, particularly in recent developments, directly benefited Gen Pervez Musharraf.
He criticised some decisions of the All Parties Democratic Movement and claimed that only the JUI (F) sacrificed two provincial governments and also resigned from the National Assembly.
