KARACHI, Oct 27: After failing to impress in the last run on Tuesday, the five-year-old bay Tharkyee looks certain to make amends in the feature event of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Owned and trained by S. Ehtisham, favourite Tharkyee had to be content with third slot behind Royal King and Moon Raker earlier this week. In the preceding race, he was placed second after overcoming few dismal runs.

If one goes by his current form, he starts as our day’s best. His likely challengers in the field are Moon Raker and Dragon Heart.

Seven horses will face the starter barring last minute withdrawl in the five-and-a-half furlongs last race on card.

The four-year-old chestnut colt Quince whose winning streak was interrupted by outsider Rolex in the last meeting is poised to triumph in the supporting event.

The colt from the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara completed a hat trick before relegating to second place. Colts Khyber and Sir Jee should follow Quince for the places.

This will be the seventh race where 11 contenders are in fray in the class VI to be run over five-and-a-half furlongs.

The five-year-old bay mare Closing Argument who has shown consistent form in the recent past is fancied to pick up spoils in the top division of class VII. Those who can pose her challenge are Mr. Mention Not and Hi Darling.

If tried, filly Love Pakistan should cross the finishing post ahead of rivals in div II of class VII. King Of Cool and The Ghazan Prince should vie for places.

However, three-year-old chestnut colt Shiracco can pull off an upset.

Desperado is our fancy in the opener so does Priceless in the next.

Two horses come in the reckoning in the third race which is restricted for two-year-old colts. They are Play Boy and Dark Secret. We, however, back the former.

The three-year-old chestnut colt Count The Money should oblige punters by landing the forth race.

A card of eight races has been drawn for the day. The first race gets into action at 12.00noon.
