HYDERABAD, Oct 27: The district administration of Jamshoro would set up police check-posts at different places in the Sindh university jurisdiction to take action against people who had encroached upon the university land.

It was decided in a meeting with university officials and district government officials here on Friday.

They assured the Sindh University authorities that they would provide full support and lodge FIRs against the people who had encroached deh Son Walhar as well as the village Bajedi on basis of forged Sanads (property document).

The vice-chancellor Sindh University, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, told the meeting that the university was serving the cause of education and its land was exclusively meant for education as well as establishment of teaching institutes.

He said that property of the university including land in four dehs of Kotri taluka which is purely for educational purposes.

He said that some criminals and a group of land mafia had been attempting to encroach upon the university land and are also registering false cases against the officials of the university.

The university officials while briefing the meeting said that senior member of the Board of Revenue had already declared that the sanads in possession of people who had encroached upon the university land were forged and the governor of Sindh had directed the district administration to take prompt action to remove the encroachments from the university land.

The DCO Jamshoro, Ahmed Bux Narejo and DPO Muzaffar Shaikh assured full support to the university authorities and said that district administration would take all necessary measures to stop further encroachments and get the land vacated.

The meeting decided that the DCO, DPO and revenue officials accompanied by the university administration would visit the university including the encroached land.

The meeting was attended by Registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar, EDO revenue Zahid Memon, officials of the directorate of estate, SP investigation police, DO revenue Ayoub Mari, SHO Jamshoro Bashir Ahmed Mangi and others.
