KARACHI, Oct 27: The judicial magistrate-VII, Central, Khadim Hussein Chand, on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to the investigation officer (IO) of the Liaquatabad police station for his failure to produce a charge-sheet against the accused civil rights campaigner, Mohammad Iqbal Kazmi, in an alleged fraud case and directed him to appear in the court on Nov 6.

The case (FIR 98/07) was registered by the police on the complaint of Mohammad Iqbal, son of Mohammad Ikram, under Sections 406 of the Pakistan Penal Code on Aug 22.

According to the complainant, he was a manager of a private rent-a-car company where the accused had hired four cars – AGO 338, AJV 994, ATV 885 and ATM 242. He neither paid the rent nor returned the last car (ATM 242).The IO, assistant sub-inspector Syed Zulfiqar Ali, has submitted an interim charge-sheet to the court. The court directed him to produce a complete charge-sheet in the case on Nov 6.The court has already granted bail to the accused against a surety bond of Rs30,000.
