Huge quantity of hashish seized

PESHAWAR, Oct 26: The police on Friday claimed that a huge quantity of hashish had been seized on Friday morning.

Addressing a press conference at the Police Lines on Friday, DSP Syed Fida Hussain said the police got a tip-off about the smuggling of hashish from Bara, Khyber Agency, to Punjab.

He said officials of the Chamkani police station stopped a truck (K-6397, Peshawar) and recovered 15 maund of hashish concealed in tyres.

Truck driver Adil Mohammad, son of Hawa Gul, told the police during preliminary investigations that the contraband was being smuggled to Taxila.

The truck, he said, was owned by Aslam Khan of Umarzai in the Charsadda district.

Police have taken into custody the driver and the conductor and also impounded the truck.
