Rulers’ intention exposed: Hashmi

KHAIRPUR, Oct 26: Acting president of PML-N Javed Hashmi has rejected the proposed code of conduct for general elections and said it exposed government’s claim of holding free and fair elections.

Talking to journalists and party workers here on Friday, he said the government was dramatising the scenario in the country to pave the way for postponement of the forthcoming elections.

He said that bomb blasts on Benazir Bhutto’s caravan were one of the examples. He said that the government allowed Ms Bhutto to return to the country due to international pressure but, through a well-considered plan, rulers were now bent upon to create hurdles in her way. He said Mian Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to return to the country whose presence, along with Ms Bhutto, would fill the political vacuum and no room would be left for the government and its coalition partners in the future set-up.

He said both Nawaz Sharif and Ms Bhutto believed in democracy adding that objectives of PML-N and PPP were same. District President of PML-N Abdul Majeed Shaikh, Syed Nawaz Ali Shah and others also spoke on the occasion.

NAFISA: Former district nazim Khairpur, Nafisa Shah, has said that blasts in the caravan of PPP chairperson proved that Ms Bhutto was a popular leader and the PPP was the most popular party among people of Pakistan.

Addressing a meeting of PPP workers here on Friday she said that blast victims included people from all four provinces of the country as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which proved that she was a symbol of national leadership and national unity.
