KARACHI: Demo for recovery of ‘missing persons’

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 26: A large number of people, mostly relatives of two persons who have been missing for the past many months, staged a demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club on Friday.

The protesters urged the authorities to take prompt action for the recovery of their loved ones at the earliest.

They said that one of the missing persons, Gohram Saleh, was allegedly picked up by intelligence agencies on Aug 8, 2004 and was reportedly detained at Quli Camp in Quetta, but the authorities were not acknowledging his arrest or presence there.

The other missing person, Wahid Qambar, was picked up by law enforcement agency personnel from Mand in Balochistan on March 14, 2007. The incident had also been reported by the media and even the ISPR had announced the arrest, they added.

They said that if these people were wanted for any investigations they be formally arrested and be tried in a court of law.
