KARACHI, Oct 26: The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department and the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation on Friday signed a three-year agreement for the printing of machine-readable motor-vehicle registration books. In a sharp contrast to the past practice when the PSPC used to provide blank documents, the corporation has undertaken to print the books containing data of the vehicle owners.
According to the Minister for Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Qaim Khani, new vehicles would be registered within 90 days of the submission of the application and that too against the same fee, i.e. Rs200.
On an average, 450 motorcycles, 250 cars and 60 commercial vehicles are registered daily.
PSPC’s General Manager, Sales, Pervez Hassan Khatak said that added security features had been imbedded in the newly designed vehicle-owners book. Due to the features, the documents cannot be copied or forged.—PPI
