FIFA refresher course begins


LAHORE, Oct 25: The methodology of teaching, visit of FIFA Football House’, activity reports by the participants and briefing on FIFA’s six confederations were the prominent topics as the seven-day FIFA FUTURO III Refresher Course for administration and management instructors commenced here on Thursday.

According to the course coordinator Chrysantha Perera, Ireland’s Brendon Menton and Czech Republic’s Petr Fousek are acting as the instructors while Jordan’s FIFA Assistant Development Officer Majed Z.R. Alebweh will witness the proceedings as an observer.

In all 12 foreign and 18 local participants are attending the useful activity.

The visitors from Afghanistan (2), India (3), Bangladesh (2), Bhutan (1), Iran (2), Maldives (1), Sri Lanka (2) joined five Pakistanis in the course.

“FUTURO III focuses on the education of member association instructors on the topics of coaching, refereeing, administration and management and sports medicine. The participants are expected to be actively teaching in their member associations, both before and after the course,” said FIFA Assistant Development Officer Chrysantha.

During the first day, Brendon said: “The course was designed to give the participants a wide view and concrete knowledge of FIFA, its activities and the way modern day football is run and administered. The participants can afterwards impart the knowledge gained to other football administrators in the region.” —APP
