KARACHI, Oct 25: The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi on Thursday announced the results of SSC-I annual examination 2007 (Science group).
According to statistics issued by the board, as many as 104,013 got themselves registered out of which 102,777 appeared in the examination. Results of 165 candidates have been withheld for want of correct information while the result of one candidate has been withheld owing to the use of unfair means during exams. The overall pass percentage remained 69.82.
As many as 57,464 boys appeared in the exams and 37,303 were declared successful in all the five papers. The pass percentage of male candidates remained 64.92. While of the 48,814 girl students registered for the exams as many as 45,313 candidates cleared all the papers and the pass percentage remained 76.03.
Some 15,748 students cleared four papers of which 9,651 were boys and 6, 097 were girls. About 5,104 male and 2,714 female candidates were declared successful in three papers, 2,972 boys and 1,197 girl students cleared two papers and 1,594 boys and 568 girls managed to clear just one paper. Around 735 boys and 501 girls did not appear in the examinations.
According to board officials, following the directives of the Sindh governor, the controlling authority, two per cent additional marks have been awarded to the students who appeared in the SSC-I annual examination, 2007 as a compensation for the hardships they have had faced due to prolonged power failures in the city. Marks sheets would be issued to the candidates after two weeks through their respective institutions.
Officials said that the results were scheduled to be announced soon after Eidul Fitr but got delayed due to the Oct 18 twin blasts in Benazir Bhutto’s homecoming procession.
