HYDERABAD, Oct 24: An amount of Rs1.787 billion is outstanding against the domestic consumers of the Hesco operation circle-I only which must be recovered without any further delay to improve the electricity transmission service. This was stated by the superintending engineer operation circle-I, Mazhar Ali Abbasi, who was presiding over a meeting of the official circle-I here on Tuesday.

He directed all the XENs and SDOs and recovery mukhtiarkars to accelerate the pace of recovery from the domestic consumers. He said the FIRs should be registered against the electricity thieves. He said that the power thieves must be prosecuted to ensure that they were punished by the courts with a view to checking power theft. He said this was essential to provide better service to the honest consumers. Giving details of the outstanding dues, Mr Abbasi said an amount of Rs951m was outstanding against Gari Khata division, Rs402.2m against Latifabad division, Rs151.8m against Tando Allahyar division, Rs197.9m against Mirpurkhas division and Rs84.4m against Digri division.—Bureau
