Pakistan contingent leaves for Macau today


ISLAMABAD, Oct 22: Pakistan’s 28-member contingent will leave the capital for Macau, near Hong Kong, on Tuesday morning to take part in the second Asian Indoor Games, starting from Friday.

The Games feature competitions in 19 disciplines. Pakistan will compete in athletics, chess, kabaddi and snooker.

The contingent comprises 21 players, three officials and five team officials.

Contingent’s Chef de Mission M. Abid Qadri is already in Macau. Other contingent officials who will leave today are Amir Hamza Gilani (secretary-cum-treasurer) and Dr Pervez Rizvi (team doctor).

Pakistan had captured a silver medal through the efforts of athlete Abdul Rasheed when Olympic Council of Asia first organised the Asian Indoor Games in Bangkok, Thailand, two years ago.

Contingent:

Snooker: Abu Saim, Agha Khurram Hussain, Naveen Kumar Perwani. Alamgir A. Shaikh (manager).

Kabaddi: Wajid Ali, Nasir Ali, Maqsood Ali, Mohammad Arshad, Adnan Afzal, Basharat Subhani, Rahat Maqsood, Wasim Sajjad, Naveed Akram, Abrar Hussain, Sajjad Hussain, Mohammad Akram.Mohammad Irfan Gohar (manager); Zubair Ahmed (coach).

Chess: Tanvir Mohiuddin Gilani, Mehmood Ahmed Lodhi, Amer Karim, Mohammad Younus. Aftab Hussain Gilani (manager).

Athletics: Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Sajjad. Mahmood Riaz (manager).—APP
